Royal Cosmetic Connections Eye Quad and Bronzer...

Thursday, 28 July 2011

Bloody blogger flipping my picture.

This was one of my gifts from the RAK (random act of kindness) idea that was set up by and my gift came from the ever lovely Sarah from Penny and Lola. Follow both of these lovely girls!

I had never heard of this brand before so I think it's really good that I now get to try it. This palette is just AMAZING just look how pretty these colours are. They are exactly the colours that I go for so I was super happy.

The bronzer is MATTE yeey!! I really can't wait to use this loads!

Thanks so much to Sarah and Dee :)

17 Lasting Nail Polish - Parma Violet

Wednesday, 27 July 2011

This is painted over my shellac'd nails which I love doing because I hate to be restricted to one nail colour for weeks. This was one of the free colours I had in the nail art kit that you had when buying two 17 products. I really love this colour and the nail polish is great quality. This is just one coat in the picture. The top coat I use at the moment it the Seche Vite but I know there has been some "health scares" with it, does anyone have a recommendation of a safe but amazing topcoat?

The glitter polish I was sent from Peacocks and I really like it, although all glitter nail polishes are a nightmare to remove I think they are worth it every now and again. I like how this glitter coat dries smooth because I hate that rough feeling that some glitter nail polishes have.

OOTD #3 with a graduation twist

Thursday, 14 July 2011

Dress - Primark
Shoes - Newlook

Today was a mad day and really tiring but I am really pleased! Actually so proud that I have graduated as there were times where I thought I would never see the day that it would happen. Wasn't too impressed with the massive spot that erupted on my face yesterday, hopefully it doesn't show up too much in the photos!
Well done to anyone that has graduated today and this month.
Off "glamping" now so there will be no posts for the next few the mean time BRB!

My Mac Lipsticks...

Monday, 11 July 2011

[L-R: Vegas Volt, Jubilee, Speed Dial, Creme D'Nude]

When I first started blogging I noticed there was shed loads of MAC posts around. How can you not notice? My first opinions were that this was a "status" brand, that you had to buy MAC makeup if you were blogging so I stayed away from it. But my friend who has no blog but is a makeup artist started to talk me around. After seeing this post by Hayley I decided to post up my very modest collection of MAC lipsticks.

The first lipstick I bought was actaully from Yu's  Charity Blog Sale and this was Jubliee. This is a great everyday colour and can be easily worn with anything so I get a lot of use out of it. It is a lustre finish and to be honest I am not sure what that means, but its nice and glossy on the lips.

The second MAC lipstick I bought was Creme D'nude and this really doesn't suit me at all. Makes me look like I have concealer lips so I probably will be selling this.

The third one that I bought was Vegas Volt. I bought this on a whim when going in to ask for a foundation sample. The assistants were busy and after seeing it on loads of blogs I bought it without hesitation. I love this colour, lasts well too. The only thing is as this wears off it stains any dry skin you have on your lips so you need to make sure you are well moisturised.

I bought Speed Dial whilst out with said friend who has a pro card meaning 35% off MAC. I love this and it is a really wearable pink, a dupe for AVON Pink Quarts which has discontinued :(. I wear this most days and although the colour doesn't last as long as Vegas Volt it doesn't stain the dry skin on my lips.

What are you fave MAC Lipsticks?

Yankee Candles...

Friday, 8 July 2011

This is my ever growing collection of Yankee Candles. I first purchased two samplers and a small jar from a garden center near me.

If you have ever read a blog post on my blog you will know that I really hate strong smelling things, especially things that smell cheap and nasty. This is my main reason for purchasing Yankee Candles. I really tried hard to like the cheap candles from sainsburys but they have left a really horrible smell in my room - like really cheap sweets.

The first one that I picked up in the shop was Clean Cotton. I picked this up because I thought that it would be the most basic smelling candle. I really like this candle, the smell isn't too overpowering and I was really impressed because it actually just smells like "fresh clothes".

Then I picked up Fluffy Towels under the same impression as with Clean Cotton and it really smells like fabric conditioner which I love...weird I know. I like this so much that I bought it in the Small Jar for about £6.

Then I wanted to get a nice vanilla candle so I picked up Vanilla Cupcake which smells SO yummy. Literally just like a vanilla cupcake surprisingly!

Then a couple of weeks ago whilst my friend and I were browsing some shops and having a frappe before work I hot footed it into the Yankee Shop and smelt every single candle in there. Queue me trying to politely cough after inhaling some really vile smelling ones and the shop keeper laughing at me. I found two more sampler ones that I wanted in my room.

The first one that I had to have was French Vanilla which smells just like the cones that are on the label, so so so yummy!
The second that I picked up is Creamy Caramel which smells so good that I want to eat it 99% of the time.
The samplers are around £1.50 I think.

Overall I LOVE them and I know that they are expensive. However I have not even lit my candles yet, in fact I have not even opened the plastic packaging. This is because the smell is so long lasting that even after over a month after buying my first lot they still make my room smell with all the packaging on (even the jar having its lid on) so they are amazing value for money! I would suggest burning unscented candles for the light and just having these on your bedside table like I do. I have them all out at the same time and the smells go really nicely together.

Anyone have any Yankee Candles?
What is your favourite scent?

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer...

Tuesday, 5 July 2011

With my "new" job requiring some 6am starts, which means getting up at 4:30am(!!), I needed to make sure that the dark circles were fully covered under my eyes and that's where this little beauty comes in. At only £4.99 from Boots (is available elsewhere) the Lasting Perfection Concealer works wonders.
I have the colour medium (though I think it may be a little dark for me) I can mix it with my Estee Lauder light reflecting concealer if I am too pale for this on its own. It covers really well without caking up, there is a little creasing sometimes if I have been too heavy handed with it and a little goes a long long way!
I apply mine with the Elf Blending Eye Brush from the mineral brush range which I would have never ever thought of doing until I went into MAC and that is what the MUA did. I allows you to buff the product in without pulling the delicate skin around the eye area.
My only problem with the product is that the writing on the packaging wears off really quickly. Mine doesn't seem so bad but I have seen some where there is no writing at all on the tube.

Tinted Lip Balms...

Monday, 4 July 2011
Sometimes there is nothing better than putting a wash of colour on your lips in one go, rather than using a lipstick and then a gloss.

I have gathered a small collection over the past months from sleek, vaseline and ELF.

[From top clockswise: ELF - Mellow Melon, Vaseline - Rosy Lips, Sleek - Pink Cadalic, Sleek - Elctro Peach]

[From top clockswise: ELF - Mellow Melon, Vaseline - Rosy Lips, Sleek - Pink Cadalic, Sleek - Electro Peach]
ELF - Mellow Melon - £3.50
Vaseline - Rosy Lips - £1.93
Sleek Pout Polishes - £4.30

Elf - Mellow Melon
This is the most pigmented of the four and the least glossy. The formula is really creamy and lasts a fair amount of time on the lips. The packaging is rather bulky though and I would like more product for such a big pot, however I carry a large handbag so this is handbag friendly for me!

Vaseline Rosy Lips
This is the least pigmented of the four. But the most moisturising. I always carry this in my bag but to be honest I won't buy again, I can't really tell the difference between this and my clear vaseline, but my lips are rather pigmented so this may differ between people.

Sleek Pout Polishes
I really like these, they are the perfect mix of gloss/lipstick. Nice and pigmented but not really thick. You can build them up or leave them sheer. The colour lasts on the lip a fair amount of time as well.

Overall I really like my little collection and these will last a really long time. The only one that I am disappointed with was the vaseline, but I still love the original vaseline.

Anyone have these and have the same or different thoughts on them?
Anymore I need to try?
