Review .. My thoughts on Myscara...

I was recently given the chance to have "Myscara" done in the salon that has opened where I work. I have never had any treatments on my eyelashes, nor have I even worn false eyelashes so I was a bit cautious. After a little google I found that Myscara was relatively new, having only been "born" in 2009 (the Myscara - not me).

Myscara is a safe eyelash coating that can only be applied professionally. The overall effect is that to traditional mascara but will last weeks without budging. You can get up to 3 weeks wear from it.

The treatment time is guessed at 30mins, but I was in there for 1 hour. Not sure why there was such a vast difference. The recommended price is around £40 but I have seen it in places for a lot less.

The treatment itself consisted of having a pad underneath my lower lashes and then my upper lashes taped to my eyelid, this didn't hurt and wasn't uncomfortable as you have your eyes closed the whole time. As the glue is applied the lashes need to be separated and sometimes this can hurt a tiny bit if the glue has started to dry already. For the top lashes they were first curled with a heated eyelash curler and then the same process was repeated, with the pad now on top of my lower lashes to keep them separated. As soon as they were dry I was ready to go.

You are told that there is no water allowed to go near your lashes for 2hours after the treatment. No swimming or gymming for 48hours. No sauna or steam room at all and to be very gentle when around the eye area. Another point to make is that to remove eye makeup you need to use an OIL FREE eye makeup remover as oil based ones will ruin the Myscara.

Here are some before and after pictures:

Overall there is a difference when the myscara has been done, for me it's like having one coat of mascara on my lashes. I prefer to use more mascara than this so I have been wearing mascara on the top lashes on top of the Myscara. However this is a GOD SEND for bottom lashes, because there is no smudging at all I don't have to worry about panda eyes. Plus I can go swimming and not have to worry about having no mascara on and looking not as groomed, and again not have to worry about whether the waterproof mascara I had applied will hold up.

I would definatly have Myscara done again for holiday because there is more of a "mascara" look with Myscara than there is with just an eyelash tint. If I could afford it I would have it all the time on my bottom lashes.

What do you think?

  3. It looks great and you can tell the difference definitely. However, I think i'd stick with my usual eyelash tint as it works perfectly for me xx

  6. Myscara is a terrible product. So many of my friends had it applied and had major problems- their own lashes falling out because the product hadn't been applied on them right or wasn't formulated right, and when they contacted Myscara the woman done nothing. Stay well clear!
