Mac Candy Yum Yum - Limited Edition

Ok, so you all know my feelings on MAC and their new animal testing policies and I vowed never to feature them as a whole post on my blog. However since FOREVER I have wanted this lipstick. It came out in a collection when I had just started to get into blogging and I totally missed the boat when it came to actually purchasing it.
I was then informed that Hannah was selling it on twitter. To be honest, I jumped at the chance with the reasoning that it wasn't purchasing directly from MAC and it was made when they weren't testing on animals.
Anyway onto the actual lipstick, which is why I guess I am posting about it, I am really not that overwhelmed by it. For the weeks before the desire for this neon pink lipstick really gripped me and I started purchasing the various dupes that people were suggesting. A mental block came over me that all these lipsticks were not as good as the real thing and now that I have the real thing I am here to tell you that THEY ARE. If not better. Look out for a post next week where I compare all of them (and all of them are cheaper than a MAC lipstick!!)
Onto Candy Yum Yum, yes it is a neon pink, its bright but not as bright as I thought it would be. I guess this is a good thing because it makes it more wearable. Its just that a massive fuss was made about this lipstick that it was the "BRIGHTEST EVER" and I guess I just haven't found this. Another point is that this lipstick is so drying. Within two hours of it being applied my lips are flakey and they look awful. I know this could be put down to the fact that the weather isn't the best at the moment but I am still using lip balms and my lips are never that dry anyway.
So overall a kinda BLAH feel about it, I do love it but there are also points I don't love.

Do you own MAC Candy Yum Yum?
Ever had a lipstick that you just HAD to have?

Topshop Lip Liner - Fearless...

Saturday, 28 April 2012
Topshop Lip Liner - £5

I can't find the link to this online so maybe it is part of the makeup that you can only find instore. I do have a "thing" for using lip liners as lipsticks because I find that it can sometimes last longer than a lipstick, plus there are some colours that I have found in lip liners that I have NEVER found in lipsticks and this is one of them

The Topshop Lip Liner in Fearless is a (pause to think of how I can best describe it) bricky, corally, pinky, slightly neon-y, matte colour. Yeah not the best description but swatch and you will see.

Although this does last forever it is so drying on my lips that a lipblam is a must, which sometimes takes away from the colour so you really have to build it up, which is turn leaves me using loads of the product. After the first time I used it I had to resharpen the pencil so I do think it will go down quickly but it is only £5 and the colour is so pretty that I can look past that.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wild Orchid...

Monday, 23 April 2012

Meet my new favourite obsession - Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wild Orchid. This lipstick has zoomed to the top of my lipstick charts in the past week that I have had it.
Revlon lipsticks have been making me sit up and take note of late and this one has been no expection, Wild Orchid is a hot pink but there is this blueness to the lipstick which makes my teeth look oober white. Brilliant.
This lipstick is really moiturising, last for ages and are really pigmented. For the price I think they are amazing.

What do you think?
Any colours that I need to check out from Revlon?

Make Up With Confidence in Mind!

By: Jackie Clark from the  Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance

Looking the way that you want to look can have a huge impact on the way that you feel, even if you have been diagnosed with mesothelioma cancer and undergoing treatment for mesothelioma. However, the truth of the matter is no one is born with a flawless completion. Even movie stars and models have acne, bad skin or other blemishes. This is where makeup comes in, and if you have always wanted to have a face that looks like a movie star’s, makeup can empower you in an enormous way.

First, think about the fact that powder and foundation is intended to give you that flawless complexion that people always talk about. One of the feminine ideals of beauty is to have smooth skin, but think about how unfair that is when different people have different skin needs! Powder and foundation are the great equalizers. Now your skin can be as smooth as a model’s despite exhaustion from treatment with dark circles under eyes or blotchy skin. While we should never lose sight of the fact that natural skin without makeup is also beautiful. It is important to remember that we have some truly impressive tools at our disposal.

When you love the idea of putting on your makeup from an empowered viewpoint, remember that you should choose the colors that you love. What kind of makeup makes you feel strong and bold? For some women, it’s always having the perfect red lipstick. For other women, it’s giving their eyes a smoky loveliness not found in nature. The important thing is to use makeup in a way that makes you feel as though you can handle anything. Having the face that you want is a great way to feel good about yourself.

Whether you are a makeup guru or you have always wanted to be, there has never been a better time to get started with makeup. There are plenty of fantastic shades out there for you to experiment with, but there are some tips that you can use to make a huge difference to your style. Pick makeup that is going to make you glow. If you have warm tones in your skin, consider makeup shades in gold and oranges. If you have cooler skin, use a dusting of silver or cool blues and greens to give you the color you want. Take a moment to think about how you can use your makeup as a way to wear your favorite colors. This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn more about yourself.

When you love the idea of moving forward towards a face that you love, consider what makeup can do for you. You may be surprised at the difference it can make and at the way it can improve your mood! Take control over the side effects of cancer treatment and be the beautiful woman you are. Let your red lips say I will not allow cancer to define who I am!

* I posted this as I know so many people who have had or still have cancer.

Harry Potter Book Ring... The Beaut Boutique

Thursday, 19 April 2012

My new favourite ring. I am a total Harry Potter nut and fell in love with these rings!
It even has the back cover of the book.
I am totally in love with the ring and so is everyone else who sees it, I have never seen rings like them!
The ring is fully adjustable so would fit anybody and the book isn't too small that you can't see what it is but it is also not too big to over take your hands, I still like that I can wear other rings at the same time and my hands not feel over crowded.

There are also disney book rings available...Lady and the Tramp anyone!!??

Revlon Charming...

Wednesday, 18 April 2012

This is one of many products from Revlon I am loving at the moment.
A perfect spring colour in a pastel purple with a long wearing formula, this polish is a winner.
Two coats and it is opaque, don't be put off by the first layer being really streaky and "weak".
Not the cheapest of polishes but not the most expensive either! Plus the bottle is huge so it will last for ages!

Barry M Magnetic Nail Polishes...

Monday, 16 April 2012
Barry M Magnetic Nail Polishes - £4.99 Superdrug

I couldn't wait to post about these to let everyone know that they are on sale! Yes ladies, Barry M have created their own Magnetic Nail Polishes.

The colours on sale are Red, Blue, Black and Silver and I will be going back for the other two!
The difference being is Barry M have 4 different patterns of Magnets, which I think is genius! It sets Barry M apart from the Magnetic Nail Polish trend crowd. Plus you can use every magnet for every colour!

I have just done a few of my nails quickly to try it out and I have to say it is so so easy. First of paint your nails with your basecoat, then apply a thin layer of the polish and let to dry. Then apply a thicker layer but before it drys rest the magnetic's ledge by your cuticle and hold for 5-10 seconds, then the pattern appears. Add a top coat and you are done.

I have to say I love these and think they are the best of the Magnetic Nail Polishes around, I am really glad I didn't buy into the other brands!

Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake...

Friday, 13 April 2012
Revlon Lip Butter - Strawberry Shortcake - £7.99

Another one of the Revlon Lip Butters that I bought (there are 5!!) and this one is Strawberry Shortcake, the lightest one that I purchased.
This colour comes out more of a lighter barbie pink than it looks in the tube which disappoints me slightly. Although I still find it wearable, especially if I have a smokey eye going on. It adds a nice touch to your makeup, this is probably the shortest lasting of the lot because it is not very pigmented which means I am going to go through this tube very quickly.. not good. This is doubly not good when you consider it is £8!

This sounds really negative, but I honestly do like this Lip Butter.

Bobbi Brown Concealer Kit in Sand...

Thursday, 12 April 2012

Another part of my Bobbi Brown purchases from the St Davids Ladies Night. The Creamy Concealer Kit in Sand.
On the left is the concealer itself and on the right is the setting powder, which is almost translucent. The powder is there to set the concealer and it really is a lovely added bonus in the kit. The assistant told me to use this on other areas of my face on a daily basis as it runs out slower than the concealer and you want them to run out relatively easily.

I have been using the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer which is amazing, but I fancied something with a bit more luxury and as I said in the Corrector Post this has been raved about for ages so I was naturally so intrigued. I'm glad I was - this concealer is beautiful. This is a very moisturising concealer which doesn't crease up on me and covers the hefty dark circles I have . I would suggest trying this if you have really dry skin, and obviously and if you have dark circles.

I highly recommend this!
Have you tried it?

Bobbi Brown Corrector in Bisque...

Tuesday, 10 April 2012

So this probably won't be a surprise to those who read my St David's post where I headed to the Bobbi Brown counter with 10% off and a gift voucher in hand.
I am one of the unlucky ones in life who have ridiculously dark circles under my eyes no matter how much sleep I have, water I drink etc etc. So I am always on the look out to find a heavy duty concealer which isn't too heavy - I don't ask for much do I?!
Anyways, I do love my Collection concealer (feels weird not saying Collection 2000) we all agreed that we would buy something that we wanted but didn't need at the event. I knew that with Bobbi Brown they do the corrector and concealer combo.
The corrector here is obviously to correct any colour that you have under the eyes, which because is grey the corrector is more pink toned to counter act this.
This corrects the colour under my eyes amazingly and doesn't crease up on my skin. The packaging is beautiful, there is just something so satisfying about it, the product itself is thick but not thick when you warm it up on your finger and then dab into your skin. This is the only thing that I don't like is having to use your fingers every time, it is quicker but not really hygienic, although my hands are always relatively clean.
It is more expensive than other concealers out there but I really like it and find that sometimes investing in things is worth it.

St David's Ladies Night...

Monday, 9 April 2012
Bloggers: Leanne, Leanne, Gemma, Lowri and Joanna

At the end of March St David's shopping center laid on an evening of beauty demos, discounts and fun in Cardiff.
They held a bloggers meet up in Pizza Express where we gathered and had the most yummiest of foods (pizza obvs). It is so nice to meet other bloggers, especially when you read their blogs all the time and feel like you know them already! It was a second/third time meet up for us lot that gathered together so it was just lovely!
Megan and the Grayling PR team really looked after us and I have to say a massive thank you to them for the invite!
To start the night we stood in the middle of the shopping center and had a rummage through our goody bags to decide the plan of shopping attack!
Needless to say that went out of the window when we saw we all were given a £25 gift card to spend anywhere in St David's!
First off the atmosphere there was lovely, everybody was on a buzz (apart from the few men that we saw being dragged around the shops), what made us all laugh was the models that were randomly walking around like they owned the place modelling clothes from various shops...the picture above is me taking the mick out of them by following with all my goody bags haha.
First off we headed to Boux Avenue which was amazing, we also had a fee pair of knickers from there in our goody bags ;). Gem bought some bras and I think Lowri bought the shop ;)!
From then on there was only one place we all wanted to hit - John Lewis Beauty Counter. All makeup counters were offering money off and extra makeovers. Leanne bought the Chanel Bronzer, Leanne bought a Chanel lipstick, Joanna popped her NARS cherry and bought a blusher and Lowri bought the Benefit mascara. I was left holding my card and not knowing what to buy, then my eyes landed on the Bobbi Brown counter and you will see what I bought in posts to come.

It was a fantastic night, and I have some vlog footage which will go up soon-ish.
Thank you to everyone involved and thank you to all my blogger friends that I love meeting up with :)
You guys really do ROCK!
