Lush Aqua Mirabilis Body Butter...

Thursday, 27 September 2012

Lush is one of those shops that I have a massive love/hate relationship with. I love love love their products (well most of them), their natural and all cruelty free. Fantastic. But I can't help feeling pounced upon everytime I walk in the shop. To the extent that I actually pretend I am on the phone sometimes just to get a bit of piece to browse. Anyone else feel that?

Anyway back to the purpose of this post, to talk about my favourite body butter bar from them - Aqua Mirabilis. According to Lush it is an underwater miracle for your skin which scrubs away dead skin, leaving you silky smooth. Containin cocoa butter and almond butter which makes sure your skin is moisturised whilst ground almond shells are buffing away.

I use the bar in the bath and only on my arms where I have the keratosis pilaris because to put it frankly the bars are expensive and dissolve very quickly. I used to use Buffy and this disintegrated far too quickly for my liking. The Aqua Mirabilis bar contains less butter than Buffy so does seem to last longer. The bar itself is not too rough so you can really get your scrub on without hurting your skin. The bar does leave me with lovely soft skin, well as soft as you can get with KP (!!). Smelling good enough to eat this is one treat that I will keep buying.

Have you tried any of Lush's Body Butters?

How much is my face worth...

Monday, 24 September 2012

Primer: Illamasqua Satin Primer - £22.50
Foundation: BareMinerals in Light - £24.00
Concealer: Witch Skin Care in Light - £7.00 *
Eyebrows: Elf Kit in Medium - £3.50
Eye Primer: Elf Primer - £1.50
Eyeshadow: MUA Undressed Palette - £4
Mascara: BodyShop Big and Curvy - £10.00
Eyeliner: Illamasqua Medium Pencil - £13.00
Bronzer: Bare Minerals Warmth - £19.00
Blusher: Illamasqua in Lover - £18.00
Highlighter: No7 LE highlighter - £10.50
Setting Powder: BareMinerals Mineral Veil - £20.00

Total - £153.00 !!!!!!

This is pretty much my "go to" face at the moment. First off I always apply a primer, it's become a habit so to speak since I have started blogging. The Illamasqua primer is so nice for adding some moisture back into my skin, my skin gets so dehydrated and this primer stops my makeup from caking up.
Foundation wise at the moment I have been obsessed with the Bare Minerals kit, more to come on that one. Concealer is always my trusty Witch Skin Care* one which brightens my dark circles nicely.
For my eyebrows I always resort back to this little set from ELF, I have had it for ages and it is lasting really well, plus it is super cheap!
I have never strayed from the ELF eyelid primer and I don't think I ever will, it's £1.50 and does a fantastic job.
The MUA Undressed palette has rapidly climbed my eyeshadow charts, it's the perfect mix of colours for me, pigmented and last brilliantly on the eye. It's also £4, need I say more?
Mascara favourite at the moment is the Body Shop Big N Curvy which I got free with a  magazine. This mascara has surprised me and I probably will repurchase it.
To help hide lots any signs of tiredness I use the Illamasqua Medium Pencil on the water line and inner corner of my eye.
Another couple of Bare Minerals products that I have become literally obsessed with is Warmth, the bronzer of the range and the Mineral Veil setting powder. Both amazing products that I will be raving about shortly.
Blusher is my current favourite of Illamasqua, it's called Lover and is a really nice bright corally peachy pink. No surprises there when it comes to what colour blush that I like and I am using the No7 highlighter constantly at the moment to add a nice shimmer to my cheeks without adding any glittery-ness.

So there we go, I am so shocked that it is this much considering all the "high-street" products there. Madness, and this is just one combination of many. I actually wonder how much I have spent on beauty products up until this point in my life... scrap that, it's too scary!

Natural Collection Eyeshadow in Willow...

Monday, 17 September 2012

I very rarely buy single eyeshadows, to be honest it is none existent in my life since I have so many palettes there is no point because there is colours in those palettes to match any occasion you can think of!
However, when I saw this colour in boots on a random lunch time trip I knew I had to have it. It's the perfect shimmery mushroomy taupe-y colour. I clearly cannot describe the colour properly ha! I don't *think* I have another colour like it and for £1.79 I wasn't going to argue.
The pigmentation is really good, especially when you factor in the really small price. Longevity wise it last just as long as my Urban Decay Naked Palette ones with a primer underneath. Since being introduced to the magic that is eyeshadow primers I don't wear an eyeshadow without having a primer underneath now.

Do you own any Natural Collection?

New Handbag...

Saturday, 15 September 2012

A girl can never have too many handbags - right? Well I have never been one for black handbags really. I always tend to steer towards the neutral colours, dusty pinks and browns for my handbags.
Until I realised that everyone I knew had that classic black handbag that you can use for almost every occasion and once I had realised that, I was searching high and low for one.
Then I saw this one on OASAP and it is exactly like one that I purchased a while ago in grey. It looks like a miu miu bag but without the ridiculous price tag so you can get it in lots of colours!
Its big enough for me to lug around all the rubbish that I do but small enough to be taken on nights out and still look "dainty". The long shoulder strap makes it the perfect work handbag too.
I have worn this bag solidly for the 2 weeks since it arrived and so many people have asked where it is from.
I always thought black handbags were boring, but now I realise that they are far from that! Plus they don't get dirty like all the others!

Next bag on my wish list - THIS ONE - look familiar? ;)

Sleek Eau La La Liners...

Sleek Eau La La Liners - £4.99 Superdrug

I think I can some up this whole review with this one sentence "I like them but I also hate them". This review is probably going to sound all over the place to be honest.
I love the idea of these pencils, a cheaper version of the illamasqua pencils that you can use all over your body. So you can use them as eyeliners or lip liners etc.
However the packaging is absolutely shocking, the ones in the photos are actually the second lot that I bought. The first ones were all snapped inside. After getting these home too, they are no different. When you pull the lid off the force you have to pull with takes the "Inner" part flying out of the pencil.
The brown is actually a really nice eyeliner when you can get it to apply properly because the pencil bit has snapped it moves around too much.
The same goes for the other two colours as lip colours. They are nice, a little on the dry side, but to apply them is so much effort it just feels not worth it.
I really wish I hadn't bothered with these to be honest!
Sorry for such a down review - but honesty is best policy.

2true Superdrug...

Tuesday, 4 September 2012

I have to say that whilst I am getting into the swing of my new "blogging routine" these next couple of weeks are going to be a little bit hit and miss - for reasons that hopefully will turn out good! Anyways, how many times I have walked into Superdrug and completely dismissed this brand I have lost count. The 2true stand used to be one that was on it's own and could be wheeled around in a circle, but now it has a stand of it's own nestled into the rest of the well known brands.
It was all thanks to Jen who I work with that I picked up these three items. Jen is starting her own blog soon so will definatly link that up for you guys. I picked up the three items because this brand is always 3 items for £4.99 - amazing.
Jen had said that the eye liner from this brand was worth a look in and due to having my gammy eye the same week I had to chuck out the liner that I had been using. The liner itself is brilliant. A very black line that lasts all day on me, not bad for something that costs less than £2!
The concealer was something that I picked up on a whim, I am forever looking for my holy grail concealer so I thought I would try this one out. I can't say that this is my favourite concealer but for the price it is really good. It's very thick which makes it nice to apply, the coverage isn't too bad and it does a fair job at covering.
Finally, the lipstick. Now this was definatly the "Oh crumbs I have to pick another item." However it is such a lovely lipstick I am so glad I picked it up. A nice icey pink colour it isn't too pale to completely wash me out. The colour lasts a fair few hours too and does not dry out my lips. A perfect end to my trio.
I have really enjoyed using these products! Do you have any recommendations of other gems from the brand?
