Mink High Tops - £25

Bought these babies from Dorothy Perkins yesterday on my lunch. I had been "uhmming and ahhing" about the wedge trainer for a while now, first off I thought they were horrible but I warmed to them rather quickly. Especially when I tried a pair on in River Island. They were a blue and white pair that were amazing, but I was put off by the £45 price tag. I had a nose on ebay but none on there were cheaper than £30 that I liked and then I spotted these babies on sale in Dorothy Perkins!
They are the perfect brown/nude colour which can be worn smart-ish or casually. Although I will probably just wear them with skinny jeans all the time.

What do you think of wedge trainers?
Personally I now love them, its height with comfort!

Who doesn't craved a berry coloured lip at this time of year? I am no exception to that and promptly purchased the Rimmel Matte Liptick by Kate in 107 a couple of weeks ago.
I do like a good matte lipstick, they tend to last longer which is a godsend when you can't touch up your lipstick every 5 minutes and constantly drink peppermint tea in work. But usually with matte lipsticks I have to make sure I wear a really good lip balm underneath to make sure they don't flake off my lips. With these however they are much more moisturising, which is a little odd when they claim to be a matte lipstick. Not that I am complaining though, the formula is lovely. They last for around 4 hours before even showing signs of fading on my lips.
I find this dark colour easier to apply with a lip brush in the morning and then touch up from the bullet throughout the day. I find I can get a more accurate application that way.
There is a very sweet sickly scent to these when you first apply the colour, now I don't mind this as it does go away very quickly but I know scent would put a lot of people off so have a good sniff as well as a swatch before you buy!

Have you bought any of the rimmel lipsticks?

Review ... Natural Collection Blush in Peach Melba...

Probably my favourite blusher at the moment is the Natural Collection Blush in Peach Melba. As with most of the Natural Collection products it is only £1.99, brilliant if like me you are scared of blusher and usually don't wear it.
I was naturally drawn to the peach shade, I tend to gravitate towards them as pink blushers send me running for the hills. The colour is fairly pigmented which is nice considering the price and it's not too powdery either. Perfect product to have in your handbag to touch up throughout the day as it usually fades from my skin around lunchtime.
For £1.99 why haven't you tried it?

Lionel Richie...

Friday, 16 November 2012

Blazer - h&m // Top - Asos // Trousers h&m via Ebay // Shoe Boots - New Look // Necklace - Dorothy Perkins // Awkward posing and giving myself a stinking look - Models Own // Rings - ASOS // Watch - My Bampy's //  Hair - Enrapture Totem Styler // Lipstick - MAC Candy Yum Yum

Wednesday night my Mum and I went to see Lionel Richie for her birthday. He is her ultimate favourite person ever so she was so excited for the whole night. We had a really good time, it's so nice to spend time together especially as I no longer live at home.
I wore what I usually wear, prepare to see a lot of blazers in my outfit posts. I have a hefty collection.
These trousers are a bit of a revelation to me. Being "bottom" heavy I always tend to wear the patterns up top, but I don't think they look too bad?
Apologies for the photos, my sister did an awesome job taking them on my iphone! But it was so dark and I am so awkward... need to learn how to pose and STAT.
The styler that I used for my hair is currently less than half price in Argos, it's amazing, I 100% recommend! Oh and everything else is so old there are no links anywhere - Such a fail of an OOTD! Sorry!!

NUXE Reve de Miel Baume Levres Ultra-Nourrissant Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm - £9.50

Woah what a mouth full of a name there, for the purpose of this blog post I am going to call the product the NUXE Lip Balm because quite frankly typing that out constantly would annoy me and the post would probably take ten more hours to type.
I don't know about you, but I hate having dry and chapped lips. Mine go horrendous in the winter and I am forever hunting for that Holy Grail lip product that will help. I've used so many over night lip balms and apart from blistex this is my favourite.
The NUXE Lip Balm is a repairing, nourishing balm with a thick texture that restores suppleness and brings comfort to dry and chapped lips. Apparently in 2010 there was one sold every 28 seconds in the world. Tested in extreme cold conditions in Canada, this lip balm give some big claims and to be honest, it hasn't disappointed me in the slightest. I apply the balm in the evening just before I go to bed and I can still feel some on my lips in the morning. There is no real colour to the balm either so it's perfect for applying a thin layer in the daytime too.
I personally think the balm tastes like chocolate orange which is very yummy! This taste lasts for a while too, non of the disappearing scent act that some products pull off.
For £9.50 it is a lot more expensive that I would usually pay for a lip balm but a little goes a long way and it works so therefore I would happily repurchase this!

Have you use the NUXE Reve de Miel Baume Levres Ultra-Nourrissant Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm??

Nails ... Models Own Glitter Haul... Models Own Glitter Ball Collection

Models Own : Magenta Divine // Boogie Nights // Disco Inferno - £5 Each

Who can resist a good glitter nail polish? Well I can't, ever since I saw the Models Own Mirror Ball Collection I knew that I had to have a sneaky purchase, or two. With Boots 3 for 2 offer on and having another bad day at work these were soon in my basket.
Like I said, I love a good glitter nail polish, especially do create an accent nail (or as Tom, who is Leanne's Fiance calls it - an accident nail). Plus an accent nail is pretty much the only form of nail art that I can get away with in work.
The two polishes I have from the Glitter Collection are beautiful to look at, the packaging makes me want to have them on display all the time. Which isn't really practical at the moment, but hey I'll have a dressing table again one day soon!
The glitter and irregular shapes are suspended in a clear polish, they are fairly well distributed in one coat, but as with all glitter polishes there needs to be some careful dabbing to create a more opaque finish. I don't mind doing this, as I said, I have come to expect this from glitter polishes. My only downside to these colours is that for me they seem to take an age to dry, and I mean an absolute age. This isn't good considering that I like to use three coats of polish and possible more to make the glitter really stand out!

I also picked up Cheeky Magenta at the same time. The three for two sucked me in and there were no other glitter ball colours in stock in my local boots. Cheeky Magenta caught my eye, I don't have any other colours quite like this one. The glitter is all small particles which goes on pretty much opaque in one coat which is nice, because you can wear it on it's own.

As always, glitter polishes are a nightmare to get off. But worth it.

Have you bought into the Glitter Ball collection?

Nails .. Holographic Nails...

holographic_nails_nail_art_beauty_blog

Remember when there was a mad rush for Gosh Holographic, I'm talking times where there was none in stores, bottles on ebay for a gazillion pounds (and that is not a joke!) Well finally another brand has caught on that colours like these sell like hot cakes... although I've never bought a hot cake!
Boots 17 have bought out a selection of Holo Nail Polishes and I snapped up a bottle of the silver one to compare to this infamous GOSH Holographic. This came at a good time really because my bottle of GOSH Holographic is starting to get a little gloopy.
The first point is that these polishes both chip at the same rate. Which is a really high rate, even with a decent top coat the longevity isn't great for me. The only way I've found to keep the polish on for a decent number of days is to use my shellac top coat.
As you can see from the photo, the GOSH version clearly has the more "holographicness" to it, which is easier to pick up on camera. The 17 version isn't bad though, it was more difficult to photograph but in real life its a pretty decent dupe.

If you can't get your hands on the GOSH version, or are fed up with the application of the GOSH version (it's really annoying, the brush is so thin) then I would recommend the 17 version!

Are you a fan of holographic nails?
