Wednesday Wishlist ... Rimmel Apocalips

Wednesday, 30 January 2013

Right, let's get one thing clear, I know I don't need any more lip products but I NEED THESE. Since seeing the swatches on people's blogs I have come to the conclusion that I can I need these. Really pigmented and apparently they last forever, someone talk me out of it?

Have you tried these? If so.. what are your thoughts on them?

Review .. Daniel Sandler Water Colour Blushers...

Monday, 28 January 2013

First off thank you for all the lovely comments on my last post, I am now more excited about going back to brunette and like most people are saying - I can always redo the ombre!

It's no surprise that I am a huge fan on Daniel Sandler, having had my makeup done by him twice now(!!) I am also hooked on his products. I believe his cream bronzer is better than chanel! I bought these blushers at  the latest time Daniel did my makeup which was at the Central Pharmacy event. Central Pharmacy is based in Cardiff but also are the people behind the amazing
The colours that I picked up this time are Gentle and Truth. Gentle is a lovely terracotta peach which I love wearing on it's own but also mixed with Truth. Truth is a peachy gold highlight colour which looks amazing on top of most of the blushers that I own.
The water colour blushers will last forever as you only need a tiny amount, which makes them fantastic value for money. A little really goes a long way! Plus the fact that they last on my face all day means I will probably have these forever.
I really rate these, just remember to shake them up before you use them!

Have you tried any Daniel Sandler products?

Sunday Snapshot... Goodbye Ombre?

Sunday, 27 January 2013

I can't believe how fast time goes, I have had my ombre hair for almost a year now and think it's time that I say goodbye to it, even if it's just a "see you later". I would probably go back to what my hair colour is in the picture above (worn with my halo extensions) if I were to change the colour. I'm also bridesmaid for Leanne later this year and I don't want to look back on the photos and think "I had half an half hair...what" I think I want a more "normal" colour for that.

What do you think?

Review ... MAC Impassioned...

Saturday, 26 January 2013

MAC Impassioned

I was all kind of gutted when MAC changed to selling in China, so I stopped buying it. There was always that one thing that I craved which was MAC Impassioned. I saw it all over blogs and knew that it was the bright pink colour that I would love.
Sneakily Leanne bought me one when she went to a CCO, well not so sneakily I was on the phone to her at the same time. Just as I thought - Impassioned is a beautiful colour and wears really well. Typical of a good brand that I actually liked most of the products to change their values. Ugh!

Do you know any dupes for this colour that I could buy to replace it when this one runs out?

New In My Wardrobe ... Nude Heels...

Friday, 25 January 2013

Another shoe post from me this week, these were the shoes that were stolen from my mum's house last year, they have only just been returned to me from being in police custody as evidence! These are my new fail safe heels from OASAP. They pretty much go with everything. I love to wear them with a skinny jean and a tshirt, but they will also serve me well with work when I can wear my own clothes and not uniform. These are really comfortable to wear as the heel isn't too high and as an added bonus they don'y give me blisters either.

Do you have a fail safe pair of shoes? What are they?

Wednesday Wishlist ... Bowler Hat

Wednesday, 23 January 2013
Ebay - £3.59

After seeing bowler hats EVERYWHERE I can't stop thinking how much I want one. There is the one from h&m but it seems to be sold out everywhere so I took the hunt to ebay and found this one for only £3.59, bargain! I just hope that I like it (I'm so tempted to order but I don't want to wait weeks for it to arrive).

What do you think to bowler hats?
I tend to get away with wearing any style of hat, do you think it would suit?

Behind the Blogger ... Friday is Forever

Tuesday, 22 January 2013

1.       We shall start off with the basics, why did you start blogging?
I used to be part on a community on Livejournal that shared what we'd recently bought and I became a shopping addict thereon. I discovered bigger blogs such as Blog De Betty, Nubby Twiglet, Gala Darling and Sea of Shoes, and then started to discover more real-time blogspot based blogs and was inspired. Then came one dull boxing day and I just set one up on a whim - I've not looked back!
2.       I found finding a name for my blog really hard. How did you choose yours?
Oh dear, this is a cringy one because I hate my blog name now. Everybody loves the friday feeling and we're always chasing it, living for the weekend as it were. Wouldn't it be great if every day was a Friday? *vomit*
3.       What are your favourite types of posts/videos to create?
Outfit posts, definitely! I'm studying Physio so am usually in Uniform or some sort of tracksuit which I absolutely hate, so I don't get to upload this type of posts as often as I'd like, but that just makes it more fun to get my own clothes on and take some pictures - I love sharing them!
4.       What are your favourite posts/videos to read/watch?
Probably outfit photos as well, I'm not incredibly creative with outfits so its great to get some inspiration - Not so great however when I'm skint and desperate to buy everything I'm seeing! I really like lifestyle type posts as well, I'm so nosey!
5.       If you could review any product in the world, and I mean anything, what would it be?
Ooh, this is pretty difficult, but does a car count? Seat Ibiza FR would be nice! Or maybe some ann demeulemeester boots, mmhmm!
6.       With I’m a celebrity starting in the UK at the moment, what would be your one item you could take in? And that one item you would have to sneak in?
It'd have to be foundation, or at least some sort of concealer. I'd be mistaken for some sort of jungle beast without it!
7.       If you had to be an animal for a day which animal would you choose and why?
It'd have to be a dog. My dog, Amber, always looks so darn happy and carefree. It must be amazing to laze around and play all day with no worries whatsoever. Being in the middle of my 3rd year research, thats really all I want, haha.
8.       If you had to be any other human in the world for a day who would it be and why?
My boyfriend - I'd implant crazy ideas into his head. Y'know, like putting teabags in the bin and putting the toilet seat down. Plus, I'd just like to know what the world is like from a boys point of view!
9.       What is the best beauty tip or piece of advice you can pass on to others?
Be delicate with your skin, don't tug around your eye area and just be gentle with your skin - Theres no need to rub!
10.   And lastly, name some of your favourite bloggers or youtubers...

Theres so many though! :)

New In My Wardrobe ... Primark Flats .

Monday, 21 January 2013
Both Shoes - Primark

I bought both of these in early December whilst browsing Primark on my lunch. I love both of them, they are so easy to throw on with pretty much anything and neither of them was over £12. I think the black shoes were £8. Plus the stud shoes are a million times cheaper than topshop!

It's 4 years today since my Bampy died, I couldn't post without touching on it. I miss him so much.

What do you think to my new shoes?

Sunday Snapshot... Boots Haul

Sunday, 20 January 2013
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - £4.19 (On offer for £3.69)
Maybelline Colorsensational Lip Liner - Midnight Plum - £3.99

So, this week it snowed! As if you didn't know, but rather than post loads of snow pictures I thought I would stick to makeup. I love looking at everyone's snow pictures but its causing so many problems with work that I am sick of it. I had to go to work yesterday on my day off to make sure the branch could actually open. Trooper! FYI, where I live is right underneath the red weather warning.
Friday was the worst snow for us so far and all our branches got closed at 2pm to make sure staff could get home ok. This was nice which meant that Matt and I went for a nice hour long snowy walk, which we also did yesterday. It's nice to be able to have time out there enjoying it rather than worrying about work.
Our walk yesterday ended up at boots, I was tempted to hop in starbucks but it was so busy we left it and had a nose in pets at home instead. In boots there was a few essentials that I needed, razors, muscle rub and makeup.
I needed to pick up concealer because i'd run out and it's one of the few makeup items that I don't seem to hoard millions of. I stuck to the trusty Collection Lasting Perfection, nothing really gets better. Whilst browsing the stands I continued the hunt for a lip liner to match the Rimmel 107 Lipstick, blogged about here, the lipstick is beautiful but I think it's so dark that it needs a real sharp crisp line. The only one I found that matched (that was in stock) was this one by Maybelline. I will do a proper post this week but for now here is the haul.

Have you made any sneaky purchases this week?
How have you coped with the snow?

Review ... Colour Restore - Ice Platnium

Saturday, 19 January 2013

The one bug bear I have with my ombre hair is keeping that "fresh" feel to the blonde, what I mean by that is no yellow. I've had my ombre hair for just under a year now - how time flies - and I had resorted to just re-bleaching the ends to lighten it again. I really didn't want to have to do that but, sending the ends of my hair into a bleach feast was the only thing I could do as the purple shampoos just were not working.

Then a couple of weeks ago Colour Restore - Iced Platnium came into my life and sorted all my brassy problems out for me. It's a hair treatment that you can use in a couple of different ways to rid the hair of yellow and brassy tones. Containing no ammonia, no peroxide or harsh chemicals this toner controls pigment levels within colour treated hair.

There are three different ways you can use this product, all explained in the instructions leaflet. The way I used this and found it most effective was to use it like a conditioning treatment. I washed my hair as normal, with a detoxing shampoo as a moisturising shampoo can effect the results, then applied this to the ends (with gloves on!) and left it for around 20 minutes when I sat in the bath and then washed it off. You don't need to condition your hair with this, which I was a bit dubious about, but you really don't. I was left with soft hair with no yellow in at all. Brilliant!

A couple of things to mention, use an OLD towel when using this. The product is bright blue and it will stain, I have a cheap towel that I use for all things like this so don't use your best one! And always conduct a patch test 48hours before using the product, it's so important.

I will repurchase this, I intend to use it once a month to every two months to freshen up the ombre and because I only have the ends of my hair dyed this will last me ages.

Do you have any brassy tone woes?

Sunday Snapshot... Bathtime

Sunday, 13 January 2013

This week's snapshot is a little peak into the mini pamper session that I indulged in last night. This week has been slightly tough due to the fact that I couldn't walk for most of it (over did the leg session on monday) and it left me walking like a thunderbird with bent legs as I couldn't put my right heel on the floor! So by the time Saturday night came around I was well and truely ready for this pamper session.
I happily locked the bathroom door and started to slather on the Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer all over the ends of my hair then whacked it up in a bun.
As the bath was running I crumbled in some of the Comforter, my favourite bath bar ever which leaves my skin so soft, has mountains of bubbles and isn't too sickly scented. Then whilst in the bath I gave my body a good scrub with the Ocean Salt scrub, I know have a big tub thanks to Christmas, which leaves my skin nicely exfoliated. I'll be doing this a little more this week in preparation for my tan for my works annual dinner next weekend.

What do you like to use to pamper yourself with?

This week on the blog I exchanged some gifts, got naked and the two Behind the Bloggers were Bex and Glitter the Rose.

New In My Wardrobe ...Exchanging Gifts = New things!

Friday, 11 January 2013
For Christmas I was bought a really cute jumper from Dorothy Perkins, grey with an owl on. But when I tried it on it was too short, size wise it fitted perfectly but when I lifted my arms up it turned into a 90's crop top! So I had to exchange it, I went to Dorothy Perkins today but was told there was none in stock anymore and they weren't going to stock anymore.

As much as I loved the jumper I am so happy with the items I managed to exchange it for because I just wouldn't have worn the jumper with the length that it was.

The first thing I picked was this shirt, I did originally see a Zara Shirt Dupe but I put it back when I saw this one in the sale. I love checked shirts and this one has little pleather bits. Then I saw the boots, I umm-ed and ahh-ed for a while but when I found the last of my size I knew I had to have them, I love a bit of glitz! This style of boot will be around for a while, I have a plain version of them too. Lastly I picked up some earrings so that my total would come to the value of the original jumper. Since having the two holes in my ears I use a lot of these sized studs.

What do you think of what I bought?
Have you had to exchange any gifts this Christmas?

New In ... Naked Skincare goodies...

Monday, 7 January 2013

All Prodcuts - Naked

One of the things that I want to be more aware of is ingredients in products that I am putting on my hair & body. Naked skin care is perfect for that, just read all about them here. Then a couple of weeks ago Sarah enlightened me to a 50% off code which meant that I had over £40's worth of Naked Skin/Body Care for only £20!!! Amazing. I took the opportunity to well and truly stock up.

Skincare wise I took the chance to try out a new eye makeup remover since boots changed my favourite one and their toner and I still haven't found one that I like. I bought their body butter purely because Sarah said she had in her post about the deal and the body lotion in the pump was just because I liked the pump nozzle. I also bought the eye gel because I am on the hunt for one I like.

Hair wise I took the chance to buy a good couple of shampoos, a detox one in the hope that its a nice dupe for the Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo. I'm not ashamed to admit that I have suffered with a little dandruff in the past so bought the anti-dandruff shampoo to see if it worked and then picked up the blonde shampoo and conditioner for my ombre.

I also picked up a heat protector spray to try and protect my hair from all the curling/straightening/drying I do. A leave in conditioner to help my ombred ends and a de-tangle spray because since ombreing my hair it gets very knotty, although that could be the length, its now past my bra strap!!

The detangle spray arrived smashed but Naked very quickly sent out a replacement!

Have you tried Naked before??

Sunday Snapshot... Ice Skating

Sunday, 6 January 2013

So as I said before, due to a broken phone my week in photos has come to an end and one photo will be used to sum up my week.
This week saw Leanne and her fiance come down for New Years Eve and we went skating in Winter Wonderland. None of us fell over, hooray!! We were all going around really fast, I do have some footage of it but I need to figure out how to make iPhone videos not jumpy when I put them on my comupter - any tips?
We stayed up late and played board games which was fun too.

I'm also going to do a summary of the posts that have been published this week.
This weeks Behind the Blogger was Beth, And I also summed up my favourite Makeup, Skincare and Hair products of 2012.
Plus I'm getting my body confidence back.

How did you celebrate New Years?

Fitness ... Getting Body Confident...

Saturday, 5 January 2013
Possibly one of the things that I have least in life at the moment. Body Confidence. It's such a horrible topic to approach and to be honest I'm not entirely sure how this post is going to go. I have been given the opportunity to use some items and been sent some items to help possibly boost confidence and also to get myself in a place where I feel happier with my body.
I'm aware this sounds horrifically vain, I know I am so lucky to have two working legs and two working arms.. How lucky I am to be without an illness that cripples me, apart from whatever is going on with my digestive system but that's a whole other story. So please don't get me wrong on that count. This is purely appearance wise and something that I know many many people (yes men as well) have problems with.
It's at this point I will throw in some comments from twitter, a lot of people have said that they automatically think that "slim" people have oodles of confidence when that is not the case at all. I believe that no matter what your size, shape or style you can have body confidence issues. I am a size 10, obviously that varies from shop to shop but I am a size 10 roughly. To some that would be amazing and to others huge. To me at the moment this feels big, the scales show 11stone (can't believe I have written that on here but in the interest of honesty this post will contain all details). So I have decided to not only try and get myself in shape this year but also to increase my body confidence and love what I have.

First off I need to sort out the exercise and diet side of things. I joined a gym back in October and found a love for zumba, boxercise and fitball. I also rekindled my love for the gym but I never fully went for it. I didn't push myself to go and often made excuses. No more of this. I will also be trying some Maxitone prodcuts* to help me along with way. I have the protein bars *, the definity shake* and the sculptress shake* to try and I have also had contact with a lovely Maxitone trainer called Sharmain who is always there to guide me at the  other end of a phonecall or an email. I will do a separate post on each of the products and the help I have had from Maxitone soon.

The one item of clothing that I always used to feel unconfident in was a bikini, however I have found one that has boosted my confidence even at the size I am now. The bikini is form Panache and its called the Stella Plunge Bikini*.
It is so hard to take a picture of a bikini when you aren't wearing it.

Panache Specialise in lingerie and other clothing from DD and onwards. It was only a few months ago that I hit that size, I can only imagine it's a late growth spurt!! I was stupidly happy to have a decent sized pair of boobs (haha) but I left the changing room after being measured to be suddenly restricted in the choice of things I could buy. The highstreet felt very limited and to what I could actually buy now. Panache is a whole other story there is just so much choice. I'm going to have a nose at the sports wear so I am comfortable when going to the gym!
Until now I have usually worn regular bikinis with now support in them at all, which I now realised  made me feel very conscious of myself. The Stella Plunge Bikini* is a lot more supportive, I have tested this theory in the shower because I've been plagued with colds so haven't wanted to go swimming. I love the nautical theme, which would look amazing on a white sandy beach (I wish).  Panache also have a blog too.

The one thing that I am going to work towards is posting a picture of myself in that bikini on my blog.
Not that that means I am body confident but I know that to do something like that I'd have to feel confident if that makes sense!

How do you get body confident?

Stand Out Skincare 2012 Edition...

I bought this mask a while ago whilst in town trying to sort out all the fraud that had happened against us, it was a complete impulse buy but I am so glad that I bought it. A lovely fruity scented mask that I use once a week, usually a Sunday and wake up with super soft skin the next day. I hope to always have this in my routine.

Avene Antirougeurs Jour Redness Relief Moisturising Protective Emulsion

This purchase was more thought out than that of the previous product. I have red cheeks and was looking for a nice moisturiser that would help that. This really does help, but also makes a good foundation base and stops my skin from feel really dry throughout the day.

For weeks I had read about this product and how amazing it was, the hype was right. A thick lip balm that is still on my lips when I wake up after applying the balm at night this has really helped my lips through the winter months.

Probably the highest stand out skin care product for me this year. A cream cleanser that I use with my Clarasonic my skin has been loving it.

Since my face tends to break out if I use a body tanner I bought this to try and get a bronzed face without spots. This really works, a quick sweep with a cotton pad of an evening and my face has a lovely glow the next day.

What has been your standout skin care products for 2012?
Which ones should I try in 2013?

Hair Heros 2012 Edition...

Wednesday, 2 January 2013

Batiste Dry Shampoo

This will always be a hair care hero for me, I always use dry shampoo to prolong the time inbetween hair washing and to create volume. It's as cheap as chips and lasts for ages, some of the Batiste smells are questionable but on the whole they are pleasant.

Purple Shampoos

Since having the blonde at the bottom of my hair I have most certainly seen the use for purple shampoos. They take out that horrible yellow tone and maintain a nicer blonde, making purple shampoos a definite hair hero for 2012. The brand I have used so far is John Frieda but would love your suggestions of other brands.

Another really hyped up product of 2012, the Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo shot to fame and once again I hopped on that bagwagon and I haven't looked back since. As someone who always has been on the greasier side of the scale with my hair I longed for a shampoo like this. I wash my hair on a Sunday with this and I can almost make it to Thursday without having to wash my hair again. On dryer hair types I can imagine this would be awful, I only use it on the brown part of my hair which is pretty much my natural colour now and then use the purple shampoo on the ends.

Moroccan Oil

Love it. I can't really say much more, a worthy investment in my eyes.

Since my hair has finally hit the "mermaid hair" length, just on the breasticles, I have been ditching heat and letting my hair do it's own thing, this usually means messy curls and the Surf spray just helps them along. It's a pricey product considering there are cheaper versions out there, but there is something about this that makes it a little gem!

Do you have any Hair Care Heros that I should look out for in 2013?

Most Used Makeup 2012 Edition...

Tuesday, 1 January 2013

These brushes have really caused a storm in the beauty world this year and I am well and truly caught up in it. I have the Core Collection, the Blusher Brush, the Powder Brush and the Stippling Brush. I love them all, there are a couple in the Core Collection that I didn't think that I would like, the Foundation Brush, but I have even found a use of that in concealer blending. The brushes are so soft and really durable, mine get battered and are still going strong.

Bourjois Healthy Mix

My most used foundation of the year was the Bourjois Healthy Mix in the shade 52. I have repurchased this foundation more than any other I have ever bought before (and I have almost 30 foundations at the moment - shocking.) This foundation can be used to give a medium cover, which is usually the lowest level of cover I will venture into, but can also be built up to a more heavier coverage that lasts on my face all day. My skin is on the more dehydrated side of the scale so maybe that has something to do with it.

Daniel Sandler Bronzer - Riviera

It is no great surprise to you all that I am a massive fan of Daniel and when I met him the first time he used this bronzer on me. It's a cream bronzer that makes a lovely contour but also is brilliant for adding some bronze to the overall look, It's lasted me for ages and in my opinion it is better than the chanel bronzer!! Yes big claim I know.

MUA Eyeshadow Palettes

Cheap and as good as the Naked palettes... what else would be my most used eyeshadows. For the start of the year the most used for me was the Heaven and Earth Palette and in the second half it is the Undressed Palette. I am almost considering selling my Naked Palettes, almost.

No7 Exquisite Curl Mascara

This is one of my most favourite mascaras ever, although a late contender in 2012 may have changed that for me. To be honest I used about 4 tubes of this in 2012. My eyelashes are quiet long and with this mascara they go super curly. I only buy this when No7 have their vouchers though, a bargain hunter at heart always.

Avon Lipstick - Pink Pout

There is a bit of a story behind this lipstick, I used to do Avon myself and bought this one month. It quickly became my favourite lipstick and I used it almost until there was no more, went to repurchase and it had been discontinued so I stopped using it to try and preserve. I hunted for a dupe but could never find one and then Leanne did and bought it for me for my birthday!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

I think the whole world will have this as their most used concealer of 2012. It's cheap, covers well and is very readily available. This concealer covers even my dark circles, I am using up all my other concealers at the moment ready to repurchase this

So there we are, my most used makeup products of 2012, stay tuned for Hair Heros and Standout Skincare. I had great fun coming up with those!
Hope you had a lovely New Years.
