Review ... Rimmel Apocalips - Big Bang...

Well this is a turn up for the books, I never thought that in all the excitement of purchasing the Rimmel Apocalips that I would end up being less than impressed by them. The first shade up for review is Big Bang. You cannot fault the pigmentation with this, it's a super colour and one coat is all that is needed, a few touch ups on the edges and your lips are nicely red.

The applicator has a hollow middle to it which means that you really only need to pull the wand out of the rube to have enough to do your lips without going back in and scraping product out. I really like this design and it does make applying the product a lot easier.

That's pretty much where the good things end with this product. After about an hour of the colour on my lips they started to feel very tacky, like a really sticky lipgloss. This is after an hour of trying to stop my hair going in the product so it didn't go all over my face! After about two hours the product had bled all out of the edges of my lips (I'd even used a good lip liner and a lip seal around the edges of my lips) and to be honest it looked awful. I actually looked like I couldn't apply lipstick and it was promptly wiped off leaving the bottom half of my face stained red. Awful.

I'm so disappointed by this! Maybe there isn't the same problem with the paler shades? Not that it would benefit me, I much prefer loud colours.

  1. I bought this yesterday and didn't have a problem with. It faded really nicely as a stain after 3/4 hours.

At first though when i applied it i dabbed the excess off with a tissue and then found it dried to a matte finish. Maybe try this and see if it helps?

    Definitely worth another go :).

I also bought the shade Luna, and for some reason i had such a problem with the formula, it didn't dry on my lips and you could tell i had put it on rather than looking as they were my own lips (if that makes sense?).

    Hope this helps

  3. I was completely expecting you to rave about them and was expecting a rave review in order to convince me, but not sounding too convinced now. All i've heard is rave about the colours which are nice but in terms of texture and wear this doesnt sound great! x

  5. You really suit red :) I haven't had any problems with the pale shades but haven't tried the brighter shades yet, maybe I should pick one up and compare. Saying that I don't want sticky lips haha! x

  7. Oh that's disappointing for you but the colour really suits you :) I love this product but then I tend to have my hair up quite a lot so that's not an issue for me and on me it dried to a kind of matte finish. I think I might jut be lucky as I've had no issues with it smudging on my face at all but I know that quite a few people have.

  8. There's so much hype over these! Maybe I've missed the point, but they just seem to be a lip gloss to me?! I own some glosses but they're not really something I'd rush out and buy x

  10. I love the colour of this one and I think it really suits you. I had a look at these in Boots and decided not to purchase any because I think I'd just end up smudging them all over my face by accident haha!

  11. Wow, that colour is bright! You seriously pull it off! I want to like these, and I do love the idea of them, but I already own too many lip products and I can see me buying a few only because I like hybrid products

  13. I'm glad its not just me - I find them really drying, it really shows up the dryness of my lips, and because its so pigmented its a bitch to apply correctly, you seem to have got it perfectly but it just seems so inconsistent. I'm not a fan! x

  14. I hate it when everyone gets caught up in hype. & for a bog standard drug store lipgloss! Thanks for the honest review! The colour pay off looks amazing but formula first I say! X

  15. I found these a bit rubbish too, the colours are really pretty but I was under the impression that they were liquid lipsticks that would set on the lips and have fantastic lasting power. To me, they are essentially just highly pigmented lip glosses that transfer onto anything and everything and don't stay put for five minutes. I have absolutely no idea what the fuss was all about.
