The Sunday Snapshot... Easter...

easter

I hope everyone is having a lovely Easter and are suitably in chocolate induced sleeps. I've only eaten an apple and a pear so far, trying to stick to the healthy eating that I monumentally fell off the wagon these past few days. I've been sticking to the exercise though, downloading one of the couch to 5k apps on my phone and I actually am enjoying it. Hopefully it will be something that I will stick with and soon be running distances that I never have before. I've also started spin classes again, I had my first one last week and going again Tuesday. It's tough and you sweat loads but I do love it and it's over in 45 mins. Plus who doesn't love an exercise class with disco lights and music?!
I'm looking forward to having tomorrow off, there will be no Monday blues, although going to get up early and go to the gym to burn some calories before Easter egg hunting later and a roast dinner that I will devour. I have Thursday off this week too and will be attending two blogging events in one day - check me out ;) - I'm so excited though, they should be awesome. This week coming up on my blog will all be about neons, if you follow my Instagram you will know I've been rocking neon nails and neon lips, tips on how to make nail polish colours seem bright and the biggest ebay bargains that I have ever had.

Hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday weekend.

The Event... St David's Ladies Night...

beauty bus

So somehow I've managed not to blog for almost a week and I'm not even sure how that happened!
On Thursday night the Ladies of Cardiff all flocked to St David's Shopping Center for the annual Ladies Night. A night full of pampering, discounts, drinks and shopping it's not one to miss. Some of the attractions this year were the St Davids' Beauty Bus, Nandos chicken, free candy floss and so much more.
First off we met at John Lewis (after I managed to park my car!!) then mooched around the shops before meeting up with everyone in Wagamamas (I have never eaten there before) and we ate some slippery food(!!) and caught up!
Then before I knew it the evening was over, time flies when you have fun! Ohh Myself, Gemma, Leanne and Cowbiscuits got papped ;) and I always forget to take pictures. Always.

The Makeup Collection... MAC Lipsticks...

my-mac-lipstick-collection-and-swatches-blog-post-review

my-mac-lipstick-collection-and-swatches-blog-post-review

my-mac-lipstick-collection-and-swatches-blog-post-review
Viva Glam Nicki // Vegas Volt // Impassioned // Candy Yum Yum // Costa Chic // Speed Dial

We all love a good lipstick post and whilst having a makeup sort out that I tend to do every weekend I started swatching my lipsticks in order to find some love for long lost colours that have been shunted the the back of the queue. Then came the idea to group them into brands and start to note down the reasons for buying the lipsticks to jog my memory to wear them!

First of we shall start with the ever so popular MAC, or should I say used to be popular MAC. They really fell down my ranks with the whole selling in China thing, but nevertheless here are my lipsticks that I accumulated before that. Now I know MAC have loads of different formulas and I will try my best to describe them - not that I am pretending to have any clue at all!

The first MAC lipstick I ever bought was Vegas Volt, I bought this with my friend Michelle in the stand alone MAC store. Michelle is a makeup artist so has that special card which gives discount so I added some items to her basket whilst I was there. Vegas Volt is a bright orange which I happen to love, I know orange lipsticks aren't to most tastes. The satin finish I guess means that the lipstick is moisturising? Well it's not drying.. so maybe that's what it does mean? Told you I didn't have a clue.

The next one that I bought was Speed Dial, this was in the time when I was hunting for a dupe for my favourite Avon lipstick as I thought it was discontinued (no worries as Leanne came to my rescue!) I was after a nude pink that is nice to wear daytime and this ticks all those boxes. It's a cremesheen finish, which my educated guess would say means that it's more sheer than the other lipstick formulas and I would agree with that. It doesn't last as long as the other MAC lipsticks do, but this suits me fine as I usually need a top up around dinner time after I have had a munch.

I think the next one after that was MAC Viva Glam Nicki, I bought this one day after work whilst I was waiting for Matt to finish work. I love this colour, it's so bright and lovely, plus the proceeds went to charity so I didn't feel so bad about shelling out on it. The one thing I haven't mentioned yet is the price of MAC lipsticks, yeah it's far too high and yes I think that about other lipstick brands too. Anyway back to Viva Glam Nicki, I wore it into work one day and my colleague fell in love with it too, so somehow I bought another one in fear that it would sell out and then be discontinued again. So now I have two, one in use and the other in it's box.

The next MAC lipstick I snapped up was Costa Chic from Estee's blogsale (EssieButton),  I didn't really need another orange lipstick but this was barely used and cheaper because it was a blogsale so yaknow it ended up in my clutches. Its a shimmery version of Vegas Volt which makes sense as it's a frost finish. I think I read somewhere that this is a drying formula but that doesn't happen with this lipstick.

Next up is probably the most sort after MAC lipstick - Candy Yum Yum. I wanted this lipstick FOR SO LONG. You have no idea, I explained it all in the post that I wrote about it (link here) I craved it and actually found some pretty great dupes (link here) so it's not the only neon pink lipstick in the world. Nevertheless I still love it. It's an amplified finish which means the colour packs a punch, I think that's clear from the swatch. It does last a while on my lips but if I'm not careful it can get a little drying.

Finally my last MAC lipstick is Impassioned. There was a picture on pinterest of this lipstick I saw months and months ago of Impassioned and one day Leanne phoned me from an outlet store and it was there and was a lot cheaper than MAC lipsticks usually are so she picked on up for me and it's love. A really lovely bright pink which is very pigmented (amplified finish) and its one of my favourite lipsticks.

Looking at the colours all together I do have a tendency for oranges and pinks (and reds from other brands) and its made me want to take different lipsticks to work to get the wear out of them. Maybe I should have a MAC lipstick week.. would I get away with Candy Yum Yum in work? Probably not!

What MAC lipsticks do you own?
To be honest there are so many dupes out there, but I am on the hunt to uncover a few :)

The Sunday Snapshot... Baking...

Cup cake on plate

I had a lovely hour of baking this afternoon and it's all because I can no long read Becky's blog (Milkbubbletea) without drooling. Becky's latest posts involving cakes has inspired me to get back into the kitchen and start baking more than just the average cupcake.
Whilst I haven't got into the trend of hiding creme eggs or oreos in my cakes I did decide to use some fancy hot chocolate in the cakes.
We bought these hot chocolates a while ago when we saw them on offer for half price in Howells and haven't really used them that much. There are chunks of chocolate in it too so I hoped that would make the cakes even tastier.
I used the basic cup cake recipe (same amount of flour, sugar and butter, 2 eggs and mix up) then split the mixture into three bowls. I decided to make some plain cakes in this batch in case the chocolate cakes were horrible haha. Then added about 2 heaps of the hot chocolate powder to each bowl. I managed to make about 20 cupcakes with this mixture and popped them into the oven on 180 degrees for 15mins.
I don't do fancy icing so bog standard icing on top and then came the tasting... well I didn't have to worry because these taste incredible. Mint chocolate cupcakes. Wow. Just aswell I gymmed it this morning is all I am going to say!

Whats your favourite thing to bake?

OOTD... Pastels...

OOTD
Hat - Dorothy Perkins
Necklace - Dorothy Perkins
Jumper - Topshop - Via Ebay
Watch - My Bampy's
Skirt - New Look
Tights - Primark Cosy Tights
Wedge Trainers - Dorothy Perkins
Bag - Ebay
Coat - Charity Shop (£1!)

Can I at least be credited for the fact that I am doing these OOTDs? I know the pictures suck and my "posing" is hilarious but ya know it's nice to talk about clothes. I wore this last Sunday to go to Matts mums for a roast dinner - mmm! - the primark tights were perfect in keeping me warm as it was FREEZING.
The one bonus point that has occurred since me actually starting to document what I wear (mainly on Sundays) is that I always wear the same things. Always. Like the black jeans and I almost grabbed them for this day too before thinking "NOPE all your other outfits have featured these jeans" so naturally I grabbed a black skirt haha. At least I'm trying to mix things up.
The jumper was an amazing find on ebay (seller link here) where the seller has all topshop items for much cheaper and I wear it so much, a fairly lightewight knit in beautiful pastel colours - it's love.
Paired with my wedge trainers to give me some height and try to elongate my mahoosive thighs and calves this look is actually one of my favourites. What do you think?

Ohh almost forgot to mention the coat, I bought it from a charity shop for £1, yes, £1. It's such a bargain because it's a nice thick winter coat that I've seen similar on the high street for hundreds. The coat has pretty much become one of my favourites even if I couldn't figure out what size it is and it has massive shoulder pads.

Are there items in your wardrobes that you always go to without fail?

Current Make Up Storage...

beauty-blogger-makeup-storage-acrylic-drawers-blog-post

For Christmas I got some clear makeup storage and I love it. I can see everything I own (well not quite - I have far too much and this isn't even half of it) but it has actually made me want to use everything and I've been using products that I would have usually forgotten about - namely lipsticks and blusher.

How do you store your makeup?

Skinetica...

skinetica cleanser
Skinetica - £9.99*

Over the past few months I experienced spots, something that luckily I'm not too used to. But something that I wanted to stop in it's tracks. By some miracle I also had an email at this time asking me if I would like to try Skinetica. The email said "It is a unique new treatment for acne, spots, pimples and blemishes that does NOT use highly toxic chemicals (benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid etc). Its revolutionary way of working gives significant results within 2-3 days of use – sometimes faster, giving an almost immediate clearer complexion with absolutely NO side effects (dryness, redness, chapping etc). " A sample went out in one of the glossy boxes and I had started to notice seeing reviews pop up more and more so was intrigued to see if this would help my skin.

The instructions for Skinetica are very very simple. Swipe on clean skin twice a day, on dry skin and leave to dry before applying makeup. You can use Skinetica on your face, chest and back - it's just as effective on all of them. What I loved about Skinetica is that there was NO coating on the spots that I had applied it to, unlike the Origins Super Spot Remover where there is a film left over the spot and it peels under makeup. You would not know if you had applied Skinetica under makeup or not. Perfect. What's even more amazing is that Skinetica once on your skin will stay active for 12 hours.

The suggested amount of applications is 2 per day, once in the morning and one at night before going to bed. I followed this for a couple of weeks and noticed that the spots went faster than usual AND barely left any scars, thats one of my biggest skin flaws is that spots scar me like no tomorrow.

There is a FAQ page on their site which answered many questions for me, the rosacea one excites me the most! You can also request a sample from the site to see if the product is right for you :)

I will be repurchasing this, it's amazing and would 100% recommend this product.

New in my Wardrobe ... Slogan T-shirts...

Slogan_TShirts_Geek_Dork_blogger
Dork Tshirts - Primark - £4
Geek Tshirt - Orange Circle - £13.79

These type of t-shirts have been around for a while now, most obviously the geek offering from topshop and as soon as I saw them I fell in love. I don't even know why - They are simple and a few months ago I probably would have said that I hated them. After seeing them on blogs (like most things I crave) I knew I wanted some so decided to flutter in these DORK options from Primark, for £4 you really cannot go wrong.
Then I found that Orange Circle actually have a section where you can create your own tshirts and customise ones that they already have designed! Plus it's still cheaper than the topshop version too.

Did you hop into the slogan tshirt trend? What have been your favourites?

OOTD ... The Chi Chi Dress.

Chi_Chi_Dress_Outfit_blogger
Chi_Chi_Dress_Outfit_blogger
Hat - Ebay
Blazer - H&m
Dress - Chichi *
Tights - Primark
Boots - Dorothy Perkins

So right now I am in my PJs and dressing gown watching comic relief, no way near as dressed up as these pictures show.
This is what I wore on Sunday for Mother's Day and I actually felt "alright" in it, bit better than having no confidence in a dress. Talking of the dress it's one of those that you can dress up or down, I can't wait to wear it with a jumper over the top. I can see me wearing this on the beach with leather sandals in the summer too... here is hoping we get one! The collar detail on this dress is beautiful and also really secure - no beads have fallen off!
The boots are ones from the Christmas sales, I love them and love the glitzy sparkles.

Indoor photos suck. I can't pose and having to take photos on an iphone also isn't the best, apologies, but hey at least I am trying :)

Right, back to comic relief...

Hope you've had a lovely week so far!

New in my Wardrobe ... The Midi Dress...

Black_Midi_Dress_blogger

I bought this from my friend's shop, I didn't think it would suit me but I actually quite liked how it looked. My thighs look HUGE in this dress, but with some more exercise and some more confidence I will be rocking this soon.

One question I would like to ask you, How would you style it?

Barry M Gelly - Blood Orange...

Barry_M_Gelly_Nail_Varnish_Blood_Orange_Swatch

Barry_M_Gelly_Nail_Varnish_Blood_Orange_Swatch
Barry M Gelly - Blood Orange - £3.99
Currently (as time of posting) 2 for £6 in superdrug

The new high breed nail polish has arrived in Barry M. Revlon have dabbled in this with their long wearing nail polishes but I have to say the Barry M version is the closet nail polish to gel nails that I have tried.

I regularly shellac my own nails and I love the finish that it gives my nails. However I also get bored quickly and paint over the shellac (take the colour of with acetone free nail polish and the shellac doesn't get damaged!). The Gelly polish gives a ridiculous amount of shine, just like the sech vite top coat does, but without the health warnings!!

Blood orange goes on effortlessly with one coat and lasts chip free for ages. The polish also lasts brilliantly without a top coat too and the shine is just something else. I really love this and when I need a new colour polish next time I will be hitting up this range first.

I know my nail polish collection didn't need another colour but actually I didn't have a plain red polish!

Have you tried this range?
What did you think?

OOTD ... A Primark affair...

Primark_Outfit_blogger_OOTD
Primark_Outfit_blogger_OOTD
Snood - Primark - £6
Jumper - Primark - £10
Jeans - Primark - £7
Boots - Topshop Allegras - £75
The fascination with something on the floor - Models Own - Priceless

Another typical Charli outfit, baggy jumper and jeans! Annoyingly I can't link to any of the items because the boots are out of stock and Primark isn't online. The Primark purchases are fairly recent so they might be in stock still.

This jumper is a beautiful blue, nice and baggy and has a lovely sparkle detail on the shoulder. To be honest I didn't hold out much hope for them to stay on, but they do despite being battered by my handbag straps. The jeans are the same ones from my last post (haha!) but are holding up well for £7!

My Allegra boots were definitely an investment but they were really worth it. I wear them all the time and sometimes to work and they haven't really started to show any signs of wear.

What is your "go to" outfit for running errands?

FOTD ... Pink...

PINK_MAKEUP_LOOK_BLOGGER

NYC Skin Matching Foundation - Light to Medium - £2.99
Chanel Soliel Tan de Chanel - £28.00 (I think)
Maybeliene Colour Tattoo - Pink Gold - £4.99
ELF Eyeshadow Palette - £8.00
Maybeliene Rocket Mascara - Black - £6.99 (bought when on offer)
Rimmel Stay Glossy Lipgloss - £4.99 *

Alright so not the best FOTD I could have put up, but it's a start until I figure out how best to take the photos. I never ever thought I would like wearing pink eyeshadow, but I do and it's all thanks to the Maybeliene colour tattoo, it's a lovely base that just screams for more pinks to be added.

What do you think? Pink eyeshadow?

New In My Wardrobe ... Primark Lately...

New_in_primark_march_2013_blogger
New_in_primark_march_2013_blogger

I have delved into the realms of Primark lately, having not been there for a good few months this was much needed. There may be a clue in why I have been away from my blog of late in the clothes that I bought, but depending on when I publish this post you may or may not know.

Primark has always been the one place that I will ALWAYS find something that I want. The DORK t-shirts are just amazing and at £4 you cannot go wrong. The ballet shirt was only £3 in the sale, bargain and I love sheer shirts and the print. I used to ballet dance as a child so this is perfecto. I love the sparkle on the shoulders of this jumper, £10 and the lace detail on the shirt, I think £8. The grey dress will be a much needed staple but I think I can always wear it dressed up and was £10. And finally the burgundy hoody. Who needs American Apparel when Primark has these for £8?

Have you found anything nice in Primark lately?

Review ... Purity Organic Skin Care Facial Wash...

Purity_Organic_Skin_care_fash_wash_review_beauty_blog

Purity_Organic_Skin_care_fash_wash_review_beauty_blog
Purity Facial Wash - £4.99*

I am almost about to use the last of the product so there is no better time for the review, and to be quite honest I am really glad that I am at the end of this.
Purity Organic Skincare is a British brand that was created to bring sustainable and organic beauty to everyone. The brand is EcoCertcertified and 98% of the ingredients are of natural origin.
I have used this facial wash solely for the past two months and it has lasted being used twice a day for that time. In the mornings I have just been using a small amount with a flannel to take the wash off and in the evening I have been flitting between using this with a muslin cloth and my clarasonic.
Whilst this facial wash does clean my face really well, without leaving it feeling dry, there is one thing that I cannot get past and that is the smell. It smells like bubble mixture and I can't stand it. I really hate to say it because it is a lovely cleanser but when you have the frothing of the clarasonic and it whoops its way up your nose you end up smelling it for hours!
The price point is fantastic and if the smell was different then I would purchase it myself. For the next few months I am going to be trying the cleansing lotion from this range so hopefully that has a better scent.

Purity Organic Skincare has launched exclusively in 400 Superdrug stores nationwide - the company's first ever certified organic skincare range. All products are fragrance-free and suitable for sensitive skin. Purity Organic Skincare is an affordable range that can be used everyday, redressing the "elitist" barrier often associated with organic skincare brands. The products are priced from £4.99 to £8.99.

Have you used this brand before?

OOTD ... Geek...

Geek_tshirt_outfit_blogger
Geek_tshirt_outfit_blogger

Hat - Ebay (post here) - £3.45
Jacket - Primark - £8.00
Tshirt - Orange Circle - £13.49
Jeans - Primark - £7
Converse - Amazon - £34.00

Let's just pause and take a moment to see that there is an outfit post on this blog... I hope someone has got the record book out! I think I've found a simple way to take them. I stop on the way to the car, Matt stands and presses the "take" button on my iphone continuously and I stand there and try not to get hair in my lipgloss! Well that is how these photos were taken and even though they aren't the best in terms of - taken on a phone and not a fancy camera, I am pretty pleased with them!
It wasn't too shocking having my photos taken so here is hoping there will be more to come. This is what I wore yesterday on a lazy Sunday where were popped to the garden center to get some rabbit and hamster treats, yup standard.
I even went out without a handbag, everyone who knows me knows that I carry the WORLD around with me in my handbag. There is something for every occassion but today I thought I would challenge myself and it felt good. I usually panic without my bag, I suffer from anxiety, but this honestly felt great not lugging a heavy bag around.
On the heavy bag note, my Zara messenger bag broke last week. It was my favourite bag and there was no saving it. To replace it I have forked out on the Zara city office bag which I know everyone has but it seems the only bag that will be sturdy enough to hold the weight of the things I carry around.

So what do you think? Can I pass as a fashion blogger? haha!

Oh and here is my new dark hair too!! What do you think?

Sunday Snapshot ... March's Makeup

Makeup_for_march_beauty_blog

So there comes a time in the month for me (NO not that one haha) but when I decide to shake up what I am using and rotate the products in my makeup collection so they all have their own chance to shine. I am not one for changing makeup due to seasons, if I want to wear a plum lip in summer then I will, but I do like to rescue the odd blusher from the depths of my drawers so they all see the light of day.

This month I have chosen a random selection of products, some new, to grace the "everyday makeup" box that I grab in the mornings. I will probably keep mixing it up throughout the month, I'm not going to use the rose gold blush everyday but these are the products that will be considered first.

For bases this month I am going to try and use up the last of the Vivo Primer* I have had this for a while and I'm still not really sure what I think about it so in a conscious effort to condense my collection it will be used up. I fell in LOVE with the Revlon Photoready foundation around a year or so ago and I still love it now. I have had this bottle for a while now (surprise surprise!) so I think it's best that I try and use it up.

Eyemakeup is taking a bit of a pink twist this month. I've seen a few cranberry/pinkey eye looks going on and I love it. It's something that I have always stayed away from but since buying the Maybeline Colour Tattoo in Pink Champagne I have been embracing it. My ELF palette comes in really handy as there are some lovely colours in it, however since I have been stuck in the rut of nude eye looks these types of palettes have been so neglected, well now they are having their chance to shine. For mascara this month I thought I would try the new Rocket Mascara by Maybeliene. I had an eye infection, well I think a reaction to a concelear, in January so I binned everything and this was the mascara I bought to try first. It's alright, waterproof so a nightmare to get off. It does the job though, but I think I want to try the Benefit They're Real, what are you thoughts on that?

My cheeks this month will take a Sleek twist, the Sleek Contour Kit was something that I went crazy about but then other bronzers came into my life and, like everything else, it has been forgotten. Well my beloved Contour Kit we are reunited once more. The Sleek Rose Gold Blush was something that I bought on a whim when I actually saw it in stock. Everybody was raving about it, I'm sure you all remember, so now after months of it being sat there it's going to be used.

What is in your makeup bag this month?
