Guest Post... Leanne Marie

As some of you may know from my tweets I'm currently holidaying in Mexico :). Some lovely peoples have offered to guest post for me!!

While Charli is on holiday sunning herself on a beach - not jealous at all.... - She asked me to guest post on her blog so you would have something to read! I thought I'd put a little post together on how I try to save money so I can treat myself to nice things whether they be a holiday with my husband or even just small treat like the YSL lipstick in the photo.

Shopping online: Discount codes & Cashback
I do shop a lot online, its just a lot more convenient. Whenever I plan to buy something on the internet, the first thing I do is find out if there are any discount codes floating about. I admit, a lot of the time is the deciding factor whether I go through with the purchase or not! 9 times out of 10 I will be able to find some form of code, it may be for a % off or free delivery! I use cashback sites all the time. No they arent a con, they are actually worth it in my opinion. I personally use Top Cashback, I've had about £300 cashback in total from them purely by clicking through their site before going to the retailer! It's so worth it and if you are serial shopper like me, you will soon see the total add up. Sign up for Topcashback here.

Ebay : Cheaper Alternatives:
A lot of the time you can find cheaper alterntives to items on the highstreet on ebay. You can get Topshop, Zara and even designer inspired items on there for a more purse friendly price. You just have to be prepared to hunt it down! Seen a coat on Topshop for £60? Search the description on Ebay. I bet you will find it for £20 cheaper. Ebay have now give you the option to link your nectar card to your account. So you will automatically earn points when you shop. If you don't know what you can spend your nectar points on. Have a read here

Save on your Boots splurge:
Being beauty bloggers we are all partial to a little splurge in boots every so often! That is why you should get yourself an advantage card. You will rack up the points in no time, if you're popping in every lunchtime to grab a meal deal. before you know it you'll have enough points on there to take a trip to the makeup counter and get yourself a pretty new lipstick. Always grab the boots advantage card magazine if you see it in store. The back page is full of vouchers you can print off to save money, you can also go to the little advantage card machines and see what vouchers your card has linked to it! There's often ones to gain more points, BOGOF or even money off. If you haven't already, sign up for an advantage card here

Your monthly house essentials & food shop:
Some of you may be at uni, living with a partner or maybe at home still. That being said there's no reason why you cant save money on the everyday items you get each month in your 'big shop'. Tesco have a magazine that comes out at the start of each month & throughout this magazine there are vouchers to be used in store... there's nothing there to say you cant grab a couple of copies!
There's also a website called Super Savvy Me. From this website you can print (or double print if you are sneaky - click back and reprint the coupon just as the printer starts to make a noise) coupons for cleaning products, women's hygiene products and the odd male grooming item. Check out the current coupons on offer here. If you plan your shop specifically around the coupons/vouchers you have to hand, you can save a bit of money each month. That saving can put put away towards something else!

These are just a couple of tips to bare in mind next time you do a little shop. I hope they've been helpful!
Do you do anything to try and save a bit each month for something special?

  1. Love these ideas, I have all intentions of using a cashback site but everytime I order online I always forget to go via the cashback thing. Another great thing is Boots treat street where you can get points just by going through the portal! (again, something i always forget to do!)

Off to check what coupons are on super savvy me now you've reminded me!
