Easter Monday at St Fagans...

This Easter Bank holiday was much needed a welcome break from reality and the sunshine really helped. We decided to make the most of it and head to one of our childhood past times St Fagans. I think in Cardiff every child has St Fagans as part of their childhood as most school trips do visits there, but it's also free! All you have to pay is a couple of pounds to park your car.

It's basically an outdoor museum, with animals - of course there is animals if I'm there! A little farm, plenty of sheeps, cows and birds. Usually there are horses but I couldn't find any on our trip. We had a lovely stroll around, bought some wooden signs from a little stall and I even filmed a vlog in which Matt allowed me to film him - at one point he even looks at the camera! Baby steps peoples.

The vlog won't be up for a couple of weeks, but I'll get there with uploading on time. Hopefully.

Loreal Nude Magique Eau De Teint...

Loreal-Eu-De-Teint

The sentence that made me take another look at this foundation, after at first dismissing it because of the 20ml bottle, was "It's a dupe for the Giorgio Armani Maestro Foundation". Like with most of the things that I buy now I have read a lot about this on blogs and decided I needed to try, the introductory price also swayed me and at the time it was £7.99 in Tesco.

I couldn't love the packaging more, frosted glass and with a purple lid - it was love at first sight. But then I noticed the size, there is no getting away from it - this foundation is tiny. At 20ml it's a third less product than most of the foundations around. One of the first things that I quickly learnt with the Nude Magique foundation is that its very very runny - you need to shake it up before every use. Embarrassingly learnt whilst wiping up a river of foundation in the aisle of Tesco when trying to pick out my shade - oops.

I've come to the routine of shaking the foundation with my finger at the top and blobbing whatever sticks to my face. Professional at explaining things I am! Rather than use my fingers to blend I favour a buffing brush. This gives me a natural matte finish, I'm left with great looking skin but without that heavy foundation feel. My skin feels like just skin. My dark circles and spots still need concealer, but that's what it's for! Be cautious with dry patches - this will cling to them.

Have you tried the Loreal Nude Magique Eau De Teint Foundation?

Letter #1...

Dear Charli,

Today you have weighed yourself and the scales have shown 12 stone. That's right 12. Whilst your stomach sank you rubbed your eyes and checked the numbers three times. Stop being in denial, you are overweight.

You need to stop making excuses and thinking you can eat what you like without any consequences. You need to cut the crap when it comes to exercise and stop the half arsed workouts that will do nothing.

Deep down you know you are unhappy with how you look, hating the feeling that your boyfriend could do so much better than you but knowing he loves you dearly and this isn't true. Deep down you know that those clothes that are a bit too snug haven't shrunk in the wash, it's you getting bigger.

This double chin that has appeared over the last few months needs to do one. Whilst a side effect of the medication you are on is weight gain, you need to stop hiding behind that.

You used to be so small, tiny infact - yet at the time you thought you were fat. How much you wish you could go back to that size. In reality you were very ill then and you should never go back to being that small and frail.

You can be one of those people who you admire on instagram for loosing weight and being so fit and healthy. YOU CAN. The first step is this week, signing up to slimming world. The thought of this is terrifying you but you can do it and soon you won't bat an eyelid at the thought.

No more being down about how you look. I think this is why you've decided to sit and bash out how you feel in a blogpost. Something you plan to do every now and again. A way of letting out your frustrations instead of self-combusting.

There is a lot going on in your life that you can't control at the moment and that scares you, but taking control of what you eat and do in terms of exercise is something that is secretly exciting you. Enjoy it.

Bringing the outdoors in...

The one major thing I miss about living back with my mum, apart from her obviously, is a garden. Recently I have started to fill the flat with plants and flowers, which is actually brightening my mood.

Most are from the reduced section in Homebase and they have flourished with some nutritious soil and we at least 70% less than the RRP - forever bargain hunting.

The pots on the kitchen windowsill are the cheapest pots I could find and painted with samples of pastel coloured paints. Possibly one of my favourite DIYs, I should have taken photos for a blog post. Even better the blue vase was only £2 in the Homebase clearance!

 Jumper - h&m // Jeans - Primark // Converse - Amazon // Bag - Pippa Modalu // Scarf - Primark // Sunglasses - Primark

This is what I wore on Monday when we took a trip to the outdoor museum - St Fagans. I will have a post up about the day soon so if you want to see pictures all about the day keep an eye out and in a few weeks there will be a vlog up too.

Black jeans and light jumpers are my go to outfits at the moment and I always wear this scarf. It's rare that I don't have it on. I just feel so over dressed if I wear anything other than jeans - does anyone else feel like that?

My Week #15...

my-week-15

It appears that my love for having flowers all over the flat shows no sign of slowing up, especially if they are reduced and I need to rescue them. The pot above was only £3 from homebase, which is slowly becoming my favourite homeware shop. I have a whole post dedicated to the plants in my flat coming up this week!

Redken Extreme...

redken-extreme
redken-extreme

Blonde hair means one thing for me - BLEACH. Which means one thing for my hair - DAMAGE. I love and hate it at the same time. I love being blonde, I think I feel more "me" (apart from when I have ombre) but it is such a b*tch to maintain and keep my hair looking healthy.

When I have had blonde hair before I have tried to keep it in check by using a mild shampoo then hair masks all the time. This worked a little bit, but the intensive masks left my hair so weighed down that it looked really fine and thin (which it isn't!). Plus having a two women very close who are/were hairdressers my splits ends are under close inspection and were always commented on.

In comes the recommendation of Reken, coupled with a Look Fantastic discount code and I bought the whole range. The Extreme Shampoo, Conditioner, CAT Treatment and Anti-Snap. I think the whole lot was around £40 as the first three came as a discounted set. Which is the most I have EVER spent on hair products, do I regret it - nope!

The shampoo is a gentle shampoo that doesn't lather up too much in my hair, saying that it leaves my hair feeling clean, not weighed down and in general is a good shampoo. I don't think I would repurchase the shampoo purely because I don't think it's the star of this range. A decent shampoo would get the same results I think.

The conditioner, I love. It's thin but gives the same results as a thick conditioning treatment. I have used this on it's own (with another shampoo) to test it out and the results are pretty impressive. My hair is smoother and looks so much healthier. Rather than just looking healthier it feels it too!

The CAT treatment is a product that had me stumped at first. I have never used anything like it before and I was dubious as to what it would actually do. For a start you use it mid hair wash, inbetween your shampoo and conditioner. Then you spray on your hair and leave for five minutes before washing off. It's a protein treatment which acts deep within the hair rather than a mask which works on the outside of the hair. Since using this my hair feels stronger, but I only use this once a week - I don't want my hair to rely on it because apparently if you use it too much it stops working?

Finally. The star of the show and something that I will ALWAYS have to hand - Redken Anti Snap. Boy this thing is the shizz, I didn't actually think it would live up to the hype that it's been given but it does. A leave in conditioner that stops your hair snapping when you brush it, acts as a leave in conditioner and protects against split ends - you just don't need anything else. My hair is perfect after using this, just so perfect. Soft, strong and just so manageable. I can't sing it's praises highly enough.

The combination of all of these have just made my hair the best it's been since, well, forever.

Have you used the Redken range?

Hair Chalks...

pink-hair-chalk-review-swatch
Hair Chalks - Ebay

People of the world with crazy hair colours, I love you. I admire your ability to rock whatever colours are in your hair and look on with envy as I am not brave enough to try them myself. I think it should be as socially acceptable to have amazing hair colours as it is to paint your nails. My sister has been red and purple before and it looked so good. She has crystal blue eyes and when her hair was these colours they just popped and looked awesome.

Since being blonde (again) I have craved adding something a little different to my hair, something "out there" but also not permanent. A few months ago there was a fairly big buzz in the online world for hair chalking so I hopped onto ebay and picked up a packet of pink chalks for a few pounds and waited for them to arrive. I'm not going to pretend these arrived a few days ago and I couldn't wait to open them, when the reality was - they arrived and I put them to one side, then lost them and now have just found them again.

My hair was in such a bad way when I first went blonde that I really didn't think it was a good idea to go rubbing chalk all over it. So I waited until now, using really good products and my hair is in better condition. These will get a whole post to themselves, but seriously Redken - you have saved my hair.

Anyway, with the help of Leanne, last week we set on the task to give me pink hair! I had in mind to change the whole of my hair to pink but once we started we quickly thought it would be best to stick to the ends. Mainly for the fact that if it didn't wash out in one go I could hide it in a bun but also because this was the messiest thing I have done in a long time (and I clean out 8 animals every week!).

The chalking works better if your hair is damp before you start colouring so I sprayed mine in sections using a heat protection spray. I think there was some crazy logic in my head that this spray would also protect my hair from the chalk to! After the section is sprayed you just rub the chalk on until you get enough colour so it matches the look you want.

In a short space of time we were both covered so: don't wear anything you don't want dyed, have something down to protect the carpet and have some wipes on standby. To help my hair dry I did give it a blast with the hair dryer and them brushed through.

What you can't see in the photo is the amount of colours we used. All five colours in the pack were used but you can't really see that because they seemed to merge into one colour when I started drying my hair. I would have liked them to be a bit more different - for my next trick I am thinking rainbow hair?

The MAJOR downside? They make your hair really dry. To the point that when I was brushing my hair I thought I would have none left with the amount that fell out. Ohh and this will go on what ever clothes you are wearing - even when it's dried.

The colour all washed out in one go but I did use the boots deep clean shampoo so that may have had something to do with it and I followed with a really intense hair mask to try and get rid of the dry feeling that had been left. It worked and my hair has been left no worse for where which is why I think I will try this again.

To sum up. A great product for a one off hair style, you'd need to wear something you won't mind getting stained and they wash out in one wash. Fancy dress? This would be great. For a longer lasting result I think I'm going to need to head to boots...

If you could dye your hair any colour - what would it be?
I want to give a little shout out to my friend Gwyneth who ROCKS orange hair like no other and she has an amazing blog *click here* her latest post? An update on an online dating experiment she's doing!

My Week #14...

my-week-14
my-week-14

Sat blogging with a dog laying on my feet makes me stupidly happy. For the past 24 hours I have been able to pretend I have a dog whilst dog sitting Ollie. He's a 6 year old springer spaniel but is just like a puppy. He's always so excited to see me that he immediately brightens my day. The one major difference that I've noticed whilst being in the house with him, more so when I've been on my own, is that he is instantly your shadow. In the few hours that I was on my own with him I have had constant conversations with him (that he 100% understands) and have not stopped smiling.

If you didn't know I am a huge animal lover. Animals make me happy, I have no idea why - but they do. I know that this was something that started when I was very young. Whilst having a much needed catch up with a dear friend from primary school we got talking about our animal adventures when we were little. A memory she bought up was one where I would go around her house for tea but take bits of ham and milk outside to feed the stray cats. Long story short after months of persuading (nagging) her mum took in these cats and they became part of their family. :).

Wrestlemania was a huge part of my week. I love WWE and I am not ashamed to admit it. I really look forward to the pay-per-views (even though the prices are getting stupid) but Wrestlemania 30 left me really annoyed. I may even do a whole blogpost about what I thought. A match was drawn between the amazing Undertaker and the naked mole rat that is Brock Lesner. The Undertaker has a winning streak of 21-0 at Wrestlemania, well I guess now I should state that the streak was broken and it's 21-1. What are the writers thinking. If Taker was going to loose the streak then make it be to someone AWESOME and not a naked mole rat. It was confirmed that Taker went to hospital after the match and had to have scans on his head - which confirms my thoughts that he has passed his prime now. Plus at WM he over did the guyliner and fake tan!! That story line really frustrated me.

The Undertaker will always be my second favourite wrestler and have the BEST entrance in my opinion.

Does anyone out there watch WWE?

No7 Instant Radiance Highlighter...

As I explained in my boots haul that I posted up on my youtube channel last month - the No7 vouchers are both awesome and lethal at the same time. Did I need a new highlighter? No! Did I have a voucher to spend and didn't want to waste it? Yes!

This highlighter had been very hyped across numerous blogs and I have been craving a more illuminated face recently. I can't remember which blog that I read it on but one blog stated this was very similar to the Jemma Kidd highlighter that has now been discontinued. I already have that highlighter so apart from thinking that it looked like a lovely highlight colour I wanted to see if the comparison was true.

First off the packaging, I like it and dislike it all in one go. I know this sounds like a bit of a cop out but let me explain. I like that you can apply straight from the bullet and just blend with your fingers or brush. It's really convenient and I can see how this could be great to travel with. However, if I don't have enough time to leave my foundation set and I'm a little heavy handed when I apply the nib picks up bits of my foundation and I have to do a heck of a lot of blending to sort it out!

That tiny annoyance out of the way, this really is a beautiful highlighter and one that has actually made me want to reach for it everyday. There is no glitter at all, just a really lovely sheen to the face. I would 100% recommend this. Have any of you guys tried it? What are your thoughts?

My Week #13... A trip to the farm...

Photos by Leanne!

Here's a new one for you - my weekly post containing animals! Such a shock I know.. but they are nice to look at. This week has been pretty full on in terms of work, hence not blogging much (especially over the last two weeks) but back on it again - Leanne has forced me to plan!

Talking of Leanne, finally after 8 months we have been reunited. Living apart from your best mate sucks when your so busy that technology is the only means of contact for a while. This weekend we have really made up for lost time and are both currently sat on my bed blogging, eating crisps and surrounded by makeup. Such is life! When Leanne goes home tonight I am having a sort out (again) and going to somehow get a storage solution going on.

Yesterday the weather wasn't great but off he popped to the local farm, this is the farm that I adopted Bertie from four years ago. The weather held off and we got to feed all the animals woo! The white horse in the top picture only has one eye, poor thing. The guinea pig in the bottom photo was the sweetest but I don't think that Rocky and Basil would be too impressed. Last but not least, it's lambing season so we got to see all the pregnant sheep and the new born lambs. We all had a great time laughing at them prancing around and there is a vlog on the way. Oh and the tractor driving was just perfect.

On Thursday I went on a creative problem solving course and it's the best course I have been on in a long time. It taught me a lot about myself inside and outside work, but the main message - stand up for yourself and what you believe in, but do it professionally of course.

Oh, and one last thing. Rocky's toe fell off last night.

Currently Loving...

animal-mug
homebase-plants
breffo
gold-chain-necklace

Who wouldn't love pastel mugs with animals on? I bought these in my homebase haul, they were only around £1 each which makes them a perfect bargain. I really wish I had bout about 6 and a mug hanger to display them, but I didn't!

Another few things I picked up whilst in homebase and have pretty much loved are these three plants. The one thing that was really missing in  our flat was a little bit of greenery. I'd always hesitated in picking plants up because Matt has really bad hayfever.. so I worked off the assumption that he wouldn't be allergic to plants with flowers (and then couldn't resist the white flowers - oops!) so far so good and no sneezes. I just need to remember to water them.

A little genious invention I picked up is this headphone tidy from Breffo. This little bit of rubber has been great at keeping them not tangled (and tangled with loads of other things) in my bag!

Finally this necklace from Juste Bijoux, I bought this last week and have worn it so much. I have been really craving the chain necklaces that are doing the rounds at the moment and this was the perfect fix. I like that the links are bigger than a typical chain necklace so it doesn't look like I've just followed the trend, at less than £8 too - it's a bargain.

What are you currently loving?

I have been so bad at blogging recently, work has been nuts. I'm still here I promise!
